How it works
The concept is simple.
Spanish-speaking students learn with Spanish-speaking tutors.
Online Tutoring is both convenient and affordable, however there are some basic requirements we need in order to provide this service.
As always, if you are unsure just contact us.
You should:
- Have access to a computer with broadband internet and a headset with microphone
For more details, please see our IT recommendations
- Contact Us. Let us know what subject area(s) you and schedule your trial session
If you are under 13 years of age you must have your parent's permission.
- Email or fax the homework exercises you want to review and take a trial with an online tutor. Remember we will not do your homework for you...we will coach you on how to do it yourself.
- Take your trial online tutoring session.
Parents should be involved and available to speak with the tutor before and after the trial session. See Parent and Student Responsibilities below
- Choose a package of sessions and schedule your sessions with your tutor
- Make a pre-payment with PayPal or Google Checkout (credit card required). If you do not have a credit card, other options are available. Just contact us.
Parent and Student Responsibilities:
- Be involved with your student's education
Parent's should get to know and communicate with your online tutor(s)so we understand your expectations and you can monitor progress.
The more we know about your student's math and science curriculum the better. Important things to know are names of text books, exam schedules, student history and particular areas of strength or concern
- Have proper expectations. We will work with the parents, teachers and students to understand the objectives and the expectations. We will then personalize the online tutoring program to meet these objectives and expectations. Our live online tutoring service will NOT assist students to cheat or simply provide solutions to homework assignments. Our role is to COACH the student so s/he will learn, understand and gain confidence in math and science.
- Be prepared. Students and Tutors should be prepared for each session. If you are reviewing homework, we ask that the exercises be sent to us at least 3 hours in advance. If it can be sent sooner, the better. Please remember, most of our tutors are professors, professionals or students with additional time commitments. If you have specific areas you want to work on, the more time you give the tutor to prepare, the better your session. You may email or fax us 24/7 at info@tutoramigos.com. and fax 1-206-666-3078
- Help make sure your student is available and on-time for their session. All sessions are approximately 60 minutes. Students should be online and logged in, 5-10 minutes before the start of each session
- Provide the student with a distraction free environment. We recommend you turn off the TV, silence the cell phones and try to avoid any other distractions. The less distractions, the more the student can concentrate on learning
- Session Cancellations. We ask for 24 hours notice for session cancellations. You may call us at 1-775-306-5157 and leave a message or send an email 24/7. Please include the student name, and date/time of the scheduled session. No Shows on the part of the student are not refundable, so please make every effort to contact us.
